Vermont’s innovative utility, Green Mountain Power, and the Vermont Electric Power Company (VELCO) are collaborating to transform the rural grid through distributed generation, storage, flexibility, and resilience. Meet with their leaders from these organizations and businesses and visit sites showcasing technology and innovation in a rural grid.
Distributed Generation and the Rural Grid will be led by Kerrick Johnson, Vice President of Strategy and Communication at the Vermont Electric Power Company; Nate Hausman, Project Director with Clean Energy Group; and Mary Powell, CEO of Green Mountain Power.

Vermont Electric Cooperative launched a program in 2015 to assist maple sugaring operations to move to a future of lower production costs and lower carbon emissions using ECOVAP, an electronic maple sugar evaporator. Mayotte’s sugarhouse took advantage of the program for their 50,000 tap maple sugar operation in Fletcher, VT.

Alburgh Community Solar
Vermont Electric Cooperative’s first co-op Community Solar project is a one megawatt solar project that provides savings to VEC members who solar panels and obtain monthly bill credits. The project was completed in partnership with Encore Renewable Energy and SoCore Energy.
