Startup innovators wanted!

We want to hear your company’s formula for the climate economy future. How will your innovation drive the climate economy forward? Tell us for a chance to win $10,000 and a trip to cc:econ to pitch your idea to the top industry leaders in the climate economy world.

Update: We're happy to announce that the prize has been increased to $15,000 due to a generous addition from EPSCoR! This addition will require some brief reporting from the winner on the use of the $5,000 and the progress of the business idea.


Round 1: To enter, tweet your #FutureFormula pitch by August 7th, 2017.

Round 2: Select participants will receive an application form to be submitted by August 11th.

Round 3: A short list of applicants will present at a booth at cc:econ in order to earn votes from attendees.

Round 4: Finalists will pitch on stage to a panel of judges for a grand prize of $10,000.

Round 2: Submit your application.


The best #FutureFormula tweets will receive a DM on Twitter containing an application form. Fill out this form by August 11th. A limited number of applicants will be selected to continue on to Round 3.


Round 3: Present your idea from a booth at cc:econ.

If selected to participate in Round 3, you'll be notified by August 16th. You'll receive free registration and a $500 stipend for travel reimbursement to attend the summit. You'll have a booth at the Innovation Alley to present your ideas throughout the day alongside other competitors. Summit attendees will vote on the best ideas. All Round 3 participants will also receive passes to Green Mountain Power's beautiful and cutting edge Inspire Space, a coworking space for energy innovation at GMP's headquarters in Colchester, VT.


Round 4: Pitch in front of a panel of judges for the grand prize.


The top five vote-earners at the Innovation Alley will pitch their idea in front of the entire summit audience and a panel of judges comprised of leaders of the climate economy. Pitches will be limited to six minutes, with three minutes for Q+A with the judges. The panel will select the best idea and award the grand prize of $10,000.



  • Can I submit more information on my idea or business?

    You may link to more information, but keep in mind there will be an opportunity in Round 2 to submit more details with your application.

  • Do I need to attend cc:econ?

    To make it all the way through the contest, you will need to attend the summit. All participants selected through to Round 3 will receive (1) free registration for the event and $500 to help with travel costs, to be claimed upon arrival at the summit.

  • What kind of resources or limitations will I have on my pitch?

    Round 1: Pitches must conform to the tweet formula mentioned on this page. You must also use the hashtag #FutureFormula and follow us @ccecon17.

    Round 2: Pitches must come through the official application. We will send the application to those who pass Round 1 via a direct message on Twitter.

    Round 3: Pitches will be at the summit. You will have a booth alongside other competitors to pitch summit attendees throughout Day 2. You will need to bring any resources, demonstrations, documentation, etc. that you will use for the pitch. We will supply a table only.

    Round 4: Pitches will be at the summit in front of all in attendance on Day 2. This pitch will be limited to six minutes with three minutes for Q+A with the judges. You will have access to a PA and digital projector.

  • How will you use my idea/content?

    We might publish information about your idea including photography or written content about your submission or presence at the event. This may occur on our website, social media platforms, or print materials at the event.
